Here you can find a regularly updated guarding.p2p. This file includes a list of malicious IP ranges which may disturb the proper function of your system and the sharing networks. For security reasons it's recommended to block those potential hazards.

There are 2 block lists available. Guarding_full.p2p contains all potentially dangerous IP ranges useful for protecting your whole system with a low-level system driver like Protowall. If you are purely interested in making your P2P sharing a little bit saver, it's recommended to use the guarding.p2p file. It contains only the reserved IANA address ranges and the Anti-P2P list. The benefit of this list is that it has only half the size of the full one resulting in much faster loading times and better performance due to reduced filtering.

Install instructions:

Just copy the extracted guarding.p2p.zip file into your MLdonkey directory. An easy way to do this is (requiring a installed wget) from inside your MLdonkey directory (usually .mldonkey):

"wget http://www.openmedia.info/downloads/guarding.p2p.zip"
"unzip guarding.p2p.zip"

Restart mlnet. Enjoy.

Automatic download (use with crontab):

Here is a nice little script (thanks to mmueller12345) which periodically checks if a new version of guarding_full.p2p.zip is available and if so, it will be automatically downloaded and activated. You may want to run this as a local cronjob on a daily basis. Please adjust the paths and settings inside the script depending on your configuration.

Download abuse:

The filterlists are updated once a week only. Therefore it is not required to download them several times a day again and again and again.

Please do not download the filterlists more than once a week!!! It is useless and it disturbs other users.

To give everybody a fair share, users failing to follow this policy will be permanently blocked without further discussion.
